A senate committe passed legislation presented by the state agriculture department in KY that is going to tighten up the method in which amusement park rides are operated. Here are the points of the new legislation:
1. Daily Self Inspections by the ride operators.
2. 12 Hour accident notification
3. Ride inspectors must be 18 years old
4. Increase maximum fine from $1,000 to $10,000
What seems to be crazy here is that these are new ideas? How often were they inspecting the rides before? That is one reason why attending a USF or Disney park is so comforting. Yes, they may have their problems from time to time, but you can be confident that the rides are well maintained. In any event, this is good news for the state of KY.
