Here is my fifth runner-up song (remember, the runner-up songs are in no particular order). Thus far, my runner-up songs have been:
Born to Die by Bebo Norman.
The Chipmunk Song
I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day
Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy
The Beast's Fifth Runner-Up Christmas Song
Little Drummer Boy
This has always been a favorite of mine because of the song's rhythm and tone. Thankfully, the song has not been confused (so far as I have seen) with the biblical portrayl of Christmas night. In other words, I have never heard a child gaze upon a nativity scene and ask, "where is the little drummer boy?" Although the story goes a bit overboard toward the end of the song with the ox and lamb keeping time and Jesus "smiling" at the boy and his drum, those elements are part of what gives the song its charm. The closing lines of each stanza, "when we come," "on my drum," and "me and my drum" are the best parts of the song and really brings you into the music.
